{Vacation, Part IV – Bora Bora} Spokane Family Photographer

We also did a couple excursions while on Bora Bora.

One excursion we did was go to the Lagoonarium (it got good reviews for a good family activity…it was kid friendly, but not sure I’d recommend it). We saw turtles, fed the sting-rays, snorkeled, fed the fish and swam with the sharks.

Trevor and I went on a bike ride around the island of Bora Bora with his sister and her husband. Is is only 18 miles…and I say only very sarcastically. I thought we were either renting scooters or going on an electric bike. Only when we got over there we found out neither were available, so we decided pedal bikes would be a good alternative. Unless you are a spin instructor (like my sister-in-law) or maybe if you have rode a bike (that wasn’t totally falling apart like the ones we rented were) in the last 15 years more than a block, it might be ok. I (kind of) laugh about it now, but it was miserable at the time (so HOT)…lol. I have very few pictures from this endeavor…and you can probably tell from my description why! It was a good way to get a good close look at the island though.

And then we also did a jet ski tour around the island which was a lot of fun!

{Vacation Part III – Bora Bora} Spokane Photographer

Ahhh…Bora Bora. I am seriously infatuated with Bora Bora. I have always wanted to go there just from seeing pictures and being there in person didn’t help it any. It is BEAUTIFUL! Seriously, I would just look around constantly think the water couldn’t really be that color and I hoped that the pictures I was taking would actually depict what I was seeing in person. It really is as pretty in person as you see in pictures. I would go back there tomorrow for another vacation (awful red-eye flight and all) if I could. The weather was perfect while we were here. HOT, sunny and no rain! I think I could show you pictures from here for the next 2 weeks, but I’ll spare you to just a few days! ;) We did a TON of swimming and just relaxing while in Bora Bora.

{Back from vacation} Spokane Photographer

I am going to forewarn you that this week I will be sharing all personal pictures. We just got back from the most amazing vacation and, as I’ve said before, this is also my “scrapbook” so I’m sharing them here! We spent two weeks in the French Polynesia – one week on the island of Moorea and one week on the island of Bora Bora. It was truly amazing and so breathtaking. The majority of my pictures were taken with my cheap underwater camera because we were in and around the water so much I just felt safer with that. But I love them, nonetheless…

First up is our week on Moorea. It is their rainy season and it definitely held true when we were on this island. The first couple of days were nice and sunny and then after that every afternoon, it would rain…and by rain I mean POUR…on and off. It was still so warm though that it wasn’t a big deal as you could still swim. We swam a lot, fed the stingrays and swam with the sharks, snorkeled, did a sunset cruise on a catamaran, went on an ATV tour, rented a car and toured the island ourselves, went to a French Polynesian dinner/show, and just relaxed. I will say that we are not used to the sun being soooo intense and got so burned the first day. We quickly learned that SPF 30 is not strong enough and immediately went out and bought SPF 50 and still continued to get burned, but not as badly. It is crazy how different it is from here during the summer.

The bay our hut sat in. It was perfect as my Mother-in-law and sister-in-law/brother-in-law were in the other two huts next to us and we pretty much had this whole little bay to ourselves.

This is where we got to feed the stingrays and swim with the sharks. I wasn’t a big fan (at all) – the kids loved it though.

And we got caught in one of the huge down pours when we went to snorkel…this was probably 10 minutes after the pictures with the stingrays – they come fast and hard.

And five minutes later it was nice again!

Ok – I thought I was going to be able to show Moorea in one post, but I will stop for now. Will continue on with our week on Moorea tomorrow!
